What we do
Hamilton Aerial Group offers a diverse range of circus arts. This page showcases our range of acts and skills whilst offering some practical details as you consider what might best fit your audience and your venue.
As our name suggests for many of our acts we are suspended in the air (on silks, trapeze, rope and aerial hoop). For some we are up high but connected to the ground (stilts, pole, lollipop) and for some we are merely on the ground (hula hoop, acrobatics, theatrical clown). On a practical note some acts are therefore very mobile and versatile, and some are stationary and require a certain space.
As you peruse the options below for your event, you might consider:
1) What space is available? Consider the ceiling height and floor footprint available.
2) What you want to offer your audience? It could be a spectacular show to impress, a background entertainment to spark conversation, something delightful and interactive, something dramatic, something funny. Do you want us to move around interacting or perform in a stationary location?
Do not hesitate to contact our performance team to discuss the options.

Hammock
Singles and doubles acts can be performed on silks, rope, trapeze, aerial hoop and hammock to offer impressive, visually stunning and evocative performances.
Practicalities:
Space and rigging: These apparatus are suspended from either a professionally installed rigging point in the ceiling or on our portable (indoor and outdoor) aerial rig.
– Our 20′ high rig requires an 18×18 footprint. This can be used for hoop, silks, hammock, rope and trapeze.
– 16′ rig with a 14.5×14.5 footprint. This can be used for hoop, silks, hammock, rope and trapeze.
– For low ceilings we have a 12′ rig with a 12 x 12 footprint. This can be used for hoop and hammock.
Lighting: Please provide your own lighting to highlight the performance area.
Lollipop
Pole
Lollipop and pole acts have a impactful wow-factor! These are a ground-based option that enable aerial acts without rigging; they are performed on a portable apparatus on a small stage.
Singles and doubles lollipop acts are available.
Practicalities
Space requirements: The apparatus requires a ceiling height of 10′ and a 10′ x 10′ footprint.
Lighting: Please provide your own lighting to highlight the stage area.
Stilt performance
Stilt-walkers add magic and are often crowd favourites. We have a diverse array of costumes that we make ourselves. These range from themed characters, as in this case of a Christmas Carol theme with Marley and the Ghost of Christmas Past (above), to theatrical, to pretty in white for a wedding (see below) to animals, to dark and weird!
Stilt-walkers can also dance and offer dynamic acro-stilting which can be a great way to combine stilting and aerial in a show.
One of the beautiful aspects of adding stilt-walkers to an event is the added element of interactivity and playfulness. Characters can give out theme-based notes, help the audience play a simple game, be playful, or be silent and mysterious.
Another realm of stilt-delight are our beloved 4-legged animal creatures (below).
Circus acts at ground level
Hula-hoop
Hula hoop is offered as a 4-6 min act in or a more ambient fashion fit for a parade or to spice up a sit-down event.
Theatrical clown
Nose or no-nose, theatrical clowns can be a highly playful, interactive and unique addition to an event. A short clown “turn” is possible on centre stage, or invite a clown character to interact more generally with guests.
Ground acro
Acrobats can wow your audience from the ground too. A good option for a formal seated event.
Our performers love to create together, so unique pairings can create something bespoke for your event.
Choreographed or ambient?
Whether on the ground or in the air, choreographed pieces are carefully created dances to a particular piece of music. They are approximately 3-5 mins long. They are intended to be the central focus for the audience.
Ambient aerial or ground performances are intended as more of a delightful back drop. Performers will do moves typically more slowly and with more pauses over a longer duration. Ambient performances are not intended to hold audience attention, rather to animate the space and hold points of visual interest and spark conversation. Ambient aerial can be the right choice for cocktail hours.
Lighting and sound
Clients are requested to provide good lighting and sound equipment and to work collaboratively with us to create the best experience possible. Lighting often makes the difference between a good impact and a really special experience. If we have prepared a choreographed piece, we will give our music in advance to the sound person.
